True Stories
We are incredibly moved by our students' experiences with Christian-centered yoga. Thank you so much for sharing. It is our privilege to practice and worship with you. We receive more from each of you and your beautiful souls than words can describe. What's your story? Click here. "It's always been a challenge to find some quiet, peaceful time to stop and commune with God, but I have now found mine. It is during yoga that I am able to let go of my own self-awareness, and focus on opening up mind, heart, and soul to the Holy Spirit that seeks to be within me. [I want people to know that] you'll not only reap the benefits of the exercise, but also the fellowship!" -- Lynn W. "I had back surgery in 2006. After two months of physical therapy, my physical therapist suggested adding yoga to my rehab. My goal was to increase my flexibility [but] I have received so much more. Better posture, deeper breathing, more energy, better sleeping..., and much more confidence in my health in general." -- Tony D. "I love the fact that I get a really good workout, but it's more than that – it is the Christ-centered part. When I miss a class I feel I shortchanged myself of some very quality time with God. I tell my husband that yoga is going to become one of my appointments with God each week. I am not disciplined enough to take an hour to just really stop and listen to the Holy Spirit, but when I am in yoga I can't help but listen." -- Lisa G. "Sunday morning services fill my spirit with praise and worship with the word of God placed in my heart. Monday Christian yoga provides me with stretching, strength, teaching, and more praise and worship to take me through the rest of my week." -- Marilyn B. "I've been working on a life transformation for almost five years. Christian yoga has become a cornerstone of my program, which involves physical, mental, social, and spiritual [elements]. Christian yoga brings it all together for me." -- Bob D. "The moment I enter the yoga room, there is a feeling of total peace. The feelings created there and the benefits to my soul are enormous. Christian yoga truly makes me just pause and focus on the moment... being with God, feeling my body stretch, taking in the lyrics, listening to the instructor's words while following my breath. It's an amazing, peaceful feeling." - Liz E. "It's amazing to me to have energy that I did not have before and having a feeling of excitement about taking care of me. I now have a sense of motivation and concentration towards my school work which has helped me tremendously." -- Sarah Z. "I had never practiced yoga before and I didn't know what to expect. I was hooked after my first session. The feeling that I get from the lyrics of the songs, breathing, and stretching is both peaceful and exhilarating. Christian yoga is awesome!" -- Julie A. "I am 61 with two knee surgeries and a cancer surgery, and everything about [Christian yoga] has just brought phenomenal peace, and it's a loving group. The scripture readings and spiritual music make you think how thankful we are that our bodies can still move. I can't move as well as other people, but there's the feeling that God is there for us no matter what shape we're in." -- Elaine C. "I came mostly for stress release, relaxation, and meditation. I would rather do it in an environment that has Christian music and is prayerful than in a typical sort of Eastern type of yoga. Christ-centered yoga is what I was looking for. My doctor wanted me to do this kind of thing to stay flexible and to have relaxation. This is what we all need. I like it because it is the best combination of the physical, spiritual, and the mental all in one place. You go to other [yoga classes] that just get physical, you can go to Bible study and just get spiritual, but here you can kind of do both!" -- Kim E. ![]() |
